A multi-span machine turns slowly around a central point, watering a large circular area evenly. It is well suited to our broad wheat fields.
Malawi · Large-scale farming · Machinery hire
Sycamore Agritech Limited runs large-scale farms in Malawi, growing wheat under centre-pivot irrigation, sorghum, and maize for seed production. We own a complete fleet of modern farm machinery, which we use on our own fields and also hire out.

Farming is the heart of Sycamore Agritech Limited. Our farms in Malawi grow three main crops: wheat, sorghum and seed maize. The wheat is grown under irrigation through the cool dry season, and the maize is managed to seed-production standards. Our fields are equipped with centre-pivot and hose-reel irrigation, with water applied according to crop growth stage.
Our team manages the whole field cycle, from land preparation and planting to irrigation, fertilisation, crop protection and timely harvest. Key operations are done with our own machinery, helping to keep yield and quality consistent every season.
Large pivots rotate around a central point, watering whole fields evenly while saving water and labour.
Fertiliser and crop protection timed to each growth stage, with regular field checks to catch problems early.
From ripping and ploughing to precision planting and spraying, the key field operations are done with our own machinery.
Crops are harvested at maturity, then cleaned, bagged and stored in dry, hygienic conditions.

Malawi has two main cropping seasons: rain-fed crops, mainly maize, in the rainy season, and irrigated winter crops such as wheat in the cool dry season. Land must be prepared before each planting, so that is when demand for machinery peaks.

Irrigation
Malawi's rain falls mainly in one season, so dry-season farming depends on irrigation. Our fields use two types of sprinkler irrigation.

A multi-span machine turns slowly around a central point, watering a large circular area evenly. It is well suited to our broad wheat fields.

As the hose winds back onto the reel, it pulls the sprinkler cart across the field, one strip at a time. The machine moves easily between fields for supplementary irrigation and is also available for hire.
Our crops
These three crops are the mainstay of our farms.

Grown under irrigation for flour milling and food processing. Malawi imports almost all of its wheat, so growing it locally helps reduce reliance on imports.

Grown to seed-production standards to protect seed purity and quality: isolated fields, timely detasselling, removal of off-type plants (roguing), and separate harvesting and storage.

Our own fleet of farm machinery is available for hire, covering land preparation, planting, spraying, harvesting and irrigation. The equipment is well maintained and every machine is run by one of our experienced operators. We work anywhere in Malawi, so farms, estates and cooperatives can get the work done on time.

Disc ploughing, plus subsoiling to break up compacted layers.
Multi-row precision planting for even seed and row spacing.
Tractor-mounted boom sprayers for weed, pest and disease control.
A self-propelled combine that harvests and threshes in one pass, for maize, sorghum, wheat, soya beans and rice.
A hose-reel irrigator that moves between fields for supplementary watering.
A crawler excavator for digging ditches, clearing obstacles and other farm infrastructure work.
